Even when trying to follow up with a complaint to AOL it took 12 minutes to even get the complaint sent!
Today 5/18 I attempted to send an email about a local consumer issue to about 10 people to advise them how the matter was progressing. I AGAIN got the stupid 'challenge' and as noted below I had extreme difficulty in even reading half of the 2 words and going to screen after screen I found one finally where I could read the damn thing and enter it.
I then got the reply (see below) saying that I had answered correctly and could then send the email, however, when going back to that email and hitting 'send' I was again told that I had to complete the challenge before I could send.
So there was an endless series of screens saying I had to complete the challenge, then going to that screen I would find the screen saying I done it successfully. Round and Round.
I copied my outgoing and went to other of my 7 AOL accounts and got the SAME CRAP from all of them.
Finally I went to one of my hotmail accounts and sent it from there. No fuss or bother from hotmail, but from AOL just a continuing series of total HORSESHIT.

RE: Crappy AOL Service
Dear Mr. Green:
Your undated letter reached me today regarding my many complaints about your firms very stupid and foolish time wasting 'Challenge'.
I am not going to bother repeating my complaint here, you can pull up any of the below sites and find it:
http://americaonlinetotallysucks.blogspot.com/
http://aolchallengesucks.blogspot.com/
http://aolisawasteoftime.blogspot.com/
http://aolchallenge.blogspot.com/

http://aolsuckz.blogspot.com/
I have also put this complaint on various other consumer sites.
I get this foolish 'challenge' every few days and sometimes I have to cut and past my outgoing email and take it to one of my hotmail accounts to send it.
Your AOL service totally sucks and you should be ashamed of wasting your customers time and effort with such a stupid idea as this moronic 'challenge'.
If you need to reach me do so ONLY via my master screen name XXXX0@aol.com.

AOL Challenge is STILL total CRAP
I've had 4-5 incoming from AOL customer non service about this and I have answered all their questions, they are so disorganized that one of them wrote back upbrading me for not having replied, and I cut and pasted my prior reply and sent that back to them.

AOL Totally SUCKS!

The AOL Mail Challenge is total crap.
Now and then when sending an email the first screen appears and you have to struggle to enter the two word code.
Then you go to another screen where the 2 words appear. In my case it usually takes 8-10 tries to get the words correct as one is so illegeable as to usually be unreadable.
After correctly entering the two words you are taken to another screen which reads:
Then you go back to your original screen and hit 'send' whereupon you again get the 'challenge screen' and are informed that your message has not been sent and you have to again enter the 2 challenge words. When you go back to that screen you get the same message saying you have 'passed the image challenge' and you can now send your message.
So you end up stuck in an endless loop until you give up and go to another screen name and send your message.
The obvious thing to do is to complain and get some 'help', however if you are using a 'free' AOL program you can not get a human either on the phone or exchange email with anyone in customer service.
There is a 'possibility' that you can wade through their site and find a link where they will 'get back to you' in 48 hours.
